Create an Account

Use this page to create your My MonsterTRAK account. Fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.

E-mail & Password

E-mail Address
Enter the e-mail address that you want associated with your account. Please note that you will use your e-mail address along with your password to log in, and your password will be e-mailed to this account should you forget it.

Password
Create a password that you will be able to remember. Your password must be between 8 and 25 characters long, and must contain at least one number and/or symbol (excluding ' @ & - "" <). Uppercase and lowercase characters are allowed.

Click here for tips for creating your password.

Name & Location

During registration we only ask for your name, country and postal code. Once you create an account, you can add more detailed contact information to your account. Your name is seen by employers when you apply for job opportunities and when they conduct resume searches.

Education

Select the state where your school is located along with the name of the school you attend or most recently graduated from. Also select your graduation date, major, and degree. If you have graduated, select ‘Attained’ and if you are still a student, select ‘In Progress’. You can also include other degrees and majors by clicking on the I have more majors link.

Job Details

The Work Status field is mandatory because employers sometimes require this information from applicants. You must indicate whether or not you are willing to relocate which defaults to 'no'. You must select 1 - 5 preferred categories; this is useful information for employers when they conduct resume searches. Please note that these selections will not impact your job search.

Ethnicity & Gender

These fields are mandatory but you can select the ‘Decline to Identify’ option if you do not want to complete them.

E-mail Preferences

By default you are signed up to receive e-mail updates from MonsterTRAK and e-mails from MonsterTRAK partners. If you do not want to receive these e-mails, simply uncheck the checkboxes. You should also choose the e-mail format: either HTML or text.

Once you have completed the form, simply click on the [Continue] button to complete the registration.

Create a More Secure Password

Your log in information, especially your password, is the key to your account. To prevent unauthorized access to your account, you should update your password with some new rules in mind.

To create a complex password, follow these tips:
  • We no longer allow simple passwords that might be easy for others to guess (e.g., monster, monster1, 1234). Instead, try using words or phrases that have more personal meaning.
  • Your password must have a minimum of 8 characters. Try using more if you can.
  • Make sure you use at least one number or symbol (other than '&') in your password. Not only is it required, but doing so makes your password harder to guess and harder for automatic decoders to generate.
  • To make it easier to remember, try replacing several letters in your password with a number or symbol that look similar; for example, use a zero instead of the letter O, and replace the letter S with a $.
  • Create a pass phrase. Monster supports use of the space bar in passwords, so you can use a complete phrase as your password.
    Avoid these common password mistakes:
  • Words found in the dictionary are easier to guess so using a random series of characters is best.
  • Sequences of characters and repeating characters (e.g., 123456, abcdefg, 9999) are also easier to guess. If you change your password every month from 'password1' to 'password2', 'password3', etc., someone could easily crack your code.
  • Never use a password that is the same as, or a variation of, your e-mail address or real name.
  • Never use a password that is used as an example of a password.
    Keep your password secure:
  • Don't share your password with anyone. If you're concerned that someone else might know your password, change it immediately.
  • As tempting as it might be to write your password down to help you remember it, this is very unsafe. Take a few minutes to memorize your password.
  • Never e-mail anyone your password, and most importantly, never respond to an e-mail that is asking for your password. Monster will never e-mail you asking you to supply us with your password.

Job Search

Search by Keyword

Keywords are words, phrases and acronyms used to describe your target job. Your keywords can be anything from job titles and required skills to company names (e.g., UNIX, programmer, SAP, sales, COBOL, human resources, Oracle, marketing, advertising). If you are searching by more than one keyword, make sure to select the ‘all’ option if you only want results that contain all of the keywords or ‘any’ if you want results that contain one or more of your keywords.

On the Advanced Search, you can check the ‘Search only job titles’ box to limit your results just to job titles that match your keyword(s).

Search by Major

Something unique to MonsterTRAK is the option to search by major and all jobs are targeted by major(s). This is a great way to see the types of job opportunities posted for your major. If you search by major, only jobs that were targeted to that major (or to all majors) will appear in the search results.

Search by Job Category or Occupation

Every job posted on MonsterTRAK is classified by at least one job category. You can narrow your search results by selecting one or more job categories in your search criteria.

On the Advanced Search, you can narrow your search even further by occupation. Each job is classified by one or more occupations. This can help you to narrow your search even further as occupations are a subset of the job categories.

Search by Location – State or postal code

If you know where you want to work, you may want to use the location search to narrow your results. Each job is targeted to one or more states. On the Advanced Search, you can alternately search by a postal code and radius.

Search by Industry

On the Advanced Search, you can search by industry which describes the type of company. Every job is targeted by one or more industries. If you know what industries you want to work in, this can help you find those companies and what jobs they are hiring for.

Search by Job Type, Job Status or GreenCareer

If you are a student, you may want to narrow your search with the intern job type or the part time job status. For those who want to find environmentally friendly jobs, you can use the ‘GreenCareers’ checkbox.

Search with a Combination of Options

Use any combination of the search options to search for jobs and internships. Remember that if you do not get enough results, you may have narrowed your search too much. Try opening up your search criteria by removing some options. Besides if you narrow your search too much, you may miss out on a perfect opportunity that was classified differently.

Once you find the right combination of search options, you may want to save it as a Job Search Agent so you can easily run that search or have results e-mailed directly to you.

Job Search Results

Jobs that match your search criteria are listed. The results include the job title with an optional sub-title, the company name (which is listed as CONFIDENTIAL if the company does not want their name displayed), job location, and the date the job was posted. To view the details of a job, click on the job title. To apply for a job, click the 'apply' button on the Job Posting page.

Sorting Results

By default the jobs are sorted by listing date with the most recent jobs appearing first. You can re-sort the results by any of the headers: job title, company, location, and listing date. Click on a header once to sort and click on the header a second time to reverse the sort order. With location sorting, all locations within a specific state are grouped together and then sorted alphabetically by city.

Viewing Results

On the search results page, by default you are shown the ‘Brief’ view of the job listings. You can click on the Detailed link to see some text from the job description for each job listing.

You are shown 25 results per page by default. You can scroll to the bottom of the page and change this to either 50 or 100 results per page. Please note that the page may take longer to load if you select one of these options.

Refining Your Search

If you do not get enough results or the results you expect, you can modify your search criteria. You may have selected too many options or did not use the right keywords. You may want to modify the search a few times until you get the results you want.

Job Search Agents

Apply History

Once you have applied to a job on MonsterTRAK, the details of that apply are tracked within your Apply History page and all of your apply history is stored for two years. This can be helpful when you are actively searching for a job and want to keep track of the jobs you have applied to and the resume and cover letter that you submitted.

Please note that your apply history only includes jobs that you applied for using the [Apply] button on the Job Posting page.

If you did not submit a cover letter, you will see ‘none provided’ instead of a download link in the cover letter column. If you applied through another Web site, you will see, ‘Not Available’ instead of a download link for both resume and cover letter.

There are 25 results per page and you can use the [Previous] and [Next] buttons to jump back and forth between pages. You can also go to a specific page by clicking on the number button.

By default your results are sorted by apply date. You can sort your applies in reverse order by clicking on the Applied header. You can also sort by job title and company name in alphabetical order by clicking on the header once and reverse order by clicking on the header a second time.
